Game Modes
Counter-Strike 2 offers several game modes for different playstyles.
Premier
- Format: 5v5, 24 rounds (MR12)
- Ranking: CS Rating (ELO-based number)
- Map Selection: Both teams veto maps, one remains
- The primary ranked competitive mode in CS2.
Competitive
- Format: 5v5, 24 rounds
- Ranking: Skill Groups (Silver I to Global Elite)
- Map Selection: Players choose which maps to queue
- Per-map ranks allow specialization.
Wingman
- Format: 2v2, 16 rounds
- Ranking: Separate Skill Groups
- Maps: Smaller maps with one bombsite
- Fast-paced ranked mode for duo partners.
Casual
- Format: 10v10
- Ranking: None
- Free armor and defuse kits. Relaxed rules, no friendly fire.
Deathmatch
- Format: Free-for-all
- Ranking: None
- Instant respawn, unlimited money. Used for warmup and aim practice.
Arms Race
- Format: Free-for-all gun game
- Ranking: None
- Get a kill to advance to the next weapon. First to get a knife kill wins.
Retakes
- Format: 5v5 post-plant scenarios
- Ranking: None
- Practice attacking and defending after the bomb is planted.
