Danger Zone

From Counter-Strike 2 Wiki

Danger Zone is a battle royale game mode originally introduced in CS:GO in December 2018. It adapts the battle royale format to Counter-Strike's gameplay mechanics.

Overview

Danger Zone drops players (solo or in pairs/trios) onto a map where they must scavenge for weapons, equipment, and cash while the playable area shrinks over time. The last player or team standing wins. Unlike traditional battle royale games, Danger Zone matches feature 18 players (or 9 duos / 6 trios) and last approximately 10 minutes.

Gameplay

Pre-Game

  1. Players select their spawn location on the map by choosing a hex tile
  2. Spawn location is revealed to all other players
  3. Strategic spawn choice is important — balance loot availability against proximity to enemies

Core Mechanics

  • Scavenging — Find weapons, ammo, and equipment in buildings and supply crates
  • Money — Collect cash to purchase items via the in-game tablet
  • Tablet — Order weapons, equipment, and upgrades for delivery via drone
  • Danger Zone — The playable area shrinks in phases, forcing players together
  • Hostage — Finding and rescuing a hostage grants bonus money
  • High-value targets — Players on kill streaks are marked for all players
