The Negev is a light machine gun available to both teams in Counter-Strike 2. After a significant rework, the Negev functions as a suppressive fire weapon with a unique mechanic where its accuracy dramatically improves during sustained fire.

Overview

At $1,700, the Negev is surprisingly affordable for a machine gun. Its defining mechanic is that after an initial period of wild inaccuracy, sustained fire causes the weapon to become laser-accurate. This makes the Negev effective for holding chokepoints and denying enemy pushes through sheer volume of fire.

The Negev carries 150 rounds in its magazine with 200 in reserve, allowing extended periods of continuous fire. However, its extremely slow movement speed and long spin-up time make it vulnerable to flanks and repositioning.

Usage Tips

  • The Negev becomes extremely accurate after sustained fire, effectively becoming a laser beam.
  • Use the Negev to hold chokepoints and deny enemy pushes through continuous fire.
  • The 5.7-second reload is extremely long. Reload only when safe behind cover.
  • Pre-fire common angles to reach the accurate phase before enemies peek.
  • The Negev is most effective on defense where you can set up in a fixed position.
  • Avoid using the Negev on attack since its slow movement speed and spin-up time make aggressive play difficult.

Competitive Meta

The Negev is rarely seen in serious competitive play due to its niche role and vulnerability to utility. However, it can be effective in lower-ranked matches and casual play as a chokepoint denial tool.
