Stickers
Stickers are cosmetic items in Counter-Strike 2 that can be applied to weapons to personalize their appearance. They are one of the most popular and collectible cosmetic item types in the game, with tournament stickers being among the most valuable.
Overview
Stickers are decorative images that players can apply to any weapon skin in up to four designated positions. Once applied, stickers can be "scraped" to gradually wear them down (revealing alternate designs on some stickers) or removed entirely. Stickers do not affect gameplay and are purely cosmetic.
Types of Stickers
Regular Stickers
Released in themed capsules, regular stickers feature various designs:
- Community-designed artwork
- Pop culture references
- Abstract designs and patterns
- Seasonal or event themes
Tournament Stickers
Released during Valve Major Championships, tournament stickers are among the most popular:
- Team stickers — Official team logos
- Player autograph stickers — Signatures of professional players
- Event stickers — Tournament-specific logos and designs
- Available in Paper, Glitter, Holo, and Gold variants
Tournament sticker revenue is split between Valve, the tournament organizer, and the teams/players depicted, making them a significant revenue source for the esports ecosystem.
Special Stickers
- Holo stickers — Feature holographic effects that shift with viewing angle
- Glitter stickers — Sparkle effect on the design
- Gold stickers — Extremely rare tournament variants
- Lenticular stickers — Appear to animate when viewed from different angles
Sticker Capsules
Stickers are obtained by opening sticker capsules, which can be purchased from the Steam Market or dropped during operations. Each capsule contains stickers from a specific collection.
Application
Applying Stickers
- Right-click a weapon in your inventory
- Select Apply Sticker
- Choose the sticker from your inventory
- Select one of four positions on the weapon
- Confirm the application
Positions
Most weapons have four sticker slots in fixed positions. The positions vary by weapon type:
- Rifles/SMGs — Along the body, barrel, magazine, and stock
- Pistols — Slide, grip, and body positions
- Knives — Cannot receive stickers
Scraping
Applied stickers can be scraped up to a maximum of approximately 10-11 times:
- Each scrape gradually removes layers of the sticker design
- Some stickers reveal different artwork underneath when scraped
- Fully scraped stickers can be removed entirely (destroyed)
- Scraping is irreversible — you cannot restore a scraped sticker
Trading and Value
Sticker values vary enormously:
- Common regular stickers: $0.03-0.50
- Popular tournament team stickers: $1-50
- Rare Holo tournament stickers: $50-5,000+
- Legendary items (e.g., Katowice 2014 Holos): $10,000-100,000+
The Katowice 2014 Major stickers are considered the most valuable stickers ever released, with the iBUYPOWER Holo reaching six-figure prices.
Sticker Premium on Weapons
Weapons with applied stickers can command a premium above the skin's base value:
- The premium depends on sticker rarity, placement, and condition
- Four matching stickers ("crafts") add more value than random combinations
- Best sticker position varies by weapon but "best position" crafts are most valued
History
Stickers were introduced to CS:GO in February 2014 and have been a core cosmetic feature ever since. The transition to CS2 preserved all existing stickers and their applications.
