The M4A1-S is a silenced assault rifle exclusive to the Counter-Terrorist side in Counter-Strike 2. It shares the primary rifle slot with the M4A4 and is favored for its higher per-shot damage, tighter spray pattern, and suppressed fire that leaves no visible tracers.

Overview

At $2,900, the M4A1-S is the cheaper of the two CT rifle options. Its integrated silencer eliminates bullet tracers and reduces firing sound, making it harder for opponents to locate the shooter. The trade-off is a smaller 20-round magazine with only 40 reserve rounds, which can be punishing in extended engagements.

The M4A1-S has become the dominant CT rifle choice at most levels of play due to its accuracy, damage output, and cost efficiency. It deals 38 base damage per shot compared to the M4A4's 33, making it more lethal at range.

Usage Tips

  • The silencer removes bullet tracers, making it excellent for holding long angles where enemies cannot trace your shots.
  • With only 20 rounds, trigger discipline is critical — avoid unnecessary spraying.
  • The M4A1-S has a tighter spray pattern than the M4A4, making it easier to control at all ranges.
  • At long range, the M4A1-S is superior to the M4A4 due to higher damage and better first-shot accuracy.
  • Be cautious when facing multiple enemies — the 20-round magazine may not be enough to handle a full rush without reloading.
  • The silencer can be detached, though this is almost never advantageous and is not recommended in competitive play.

Competitive Meta

The M4A1-S is currently the more popular CT rifle choice in both professional and ranked play. Its cost advantage over the M4A4, combined with superior per-shot damage and stealth capabilities, makes it the default choice for most players. It is particularly effective on maps with long sightlines like Dust II and Overpass.
