The USP-S (Universale Selbstladepistole) is a silenced pistol exclusive to the Counter-Terrorist side in Counter-Strike 2. It is the default CT starting pistol (sharing its slot with the P2000) and is widely considered the superior option due to its accuracy and silenced fire.

Overview

The USP-S is a free starting pistol that comes equipped with an integrated silencer. It offers excellent first-shot accuracy, no bullet tracers when silenced, and clean, precise shots that reward aim. On pistol rounds, the USP-S is devastating against unarmored opponents, capable of one-shot headshots at close to medium range.

Its main limitation is ammunition: only 12 rounds in the magazine with 24 in reserve, making it the most ammo-limited pistol in the game. Every shot must count, especially during pistol rounds where utility and positioning are paramount.

Usage Tips

  • The silencer removes tracers and reduces sound, making it hard for enemies to locate you.
  • One-shot headshots against unarmored opponents make the USP-S dominant on pistol rounds.
  • With only 12 rounds, accuracy is paramount. Aim for headshots and avoid spraying.
  • Hold angles on pistol rounds — the USP-S rewards patient, precise play rather than aggressive pushing.
  • The silencer can be detached but this is almost never recommended, as it removes the stealth advantages.
  • Against armored opponents (post-pistol rounds), the USP-S loses significant effectiveness due to 50.5% armor penetration.

Competitive Meta

The vast majority of CT players choose the USP-S over the P2000 as their starting pistol. Its accuracy and silenced fire provide a significant advantage on pistol rounds, where headshot accuracy determines the outcome. The USP-S is particularly effective on maps with long sightlines like Dust II mid doors and Mirage mid.
