Basalt (de_basalt) is a bomb defusal map introduced to Counter-Strike 2 as part of a map pool update. It is set in a volcanic landscape with industrial facilities built into and around basalt rock formations.

Overview

Basalt features a unique visual identity among CS2 maps, with dark volcanic rock, industrial pipework, and orange-tinted lighting creating a distinctive atmosphere. The map is designed for competitive play with a standard two-bombsite layout.

The map emphasizes mid control and features multiple elevation changes that create interesting vertical gameplay opportunities. Its relatively compact design encourages fast-paced rotations and aggressive play.

  • Multiple entry points from T-side through main and connector
  • Elevated positions for CT defense
  • Post-plant positions behind equipment and containers

  • Accessed through tunnels and a main approach
  • Tighter spaces compared to A site
  • Strong defensive positions with cover
